Living in London can be exhausting. Loud noises, lots of people, lots of cars that makes the air polluted. Because of this we are always going away to quieter places whenever we can. One of our favourite destination in UK is a little town called Saltdean. You might think that small places can be boring for kids, but I am here to prove to you that you are wrong. So what does Saltdean offer for the whole family?
A lot.
Saltdean is a seaside town in the outskirts of Brighton. The beaches are much quieter than the main beach next to the pier. In this kind of environment, kids can run more freely. Beach is at the very bottom of the cliffs, but you need to be careful with them and not going to the edge of the cliff. Not only the wind can blow you down, but the cliffs are made of chalkstone and there are occasions when it is chipping down. However, most of them have fencing so you know which bits are safe. When you are on top of them you can see a beautiful view of the beach. It is especially beautiful during sunset so you can take a nice, long walk with your family. If you decide to walk at the bottom of the cliffs, you can follow a footpath that leads to neighbourhood town Rottingdean.

Rottingdean is a charming little town with lots of cute places. Roads are small, and the town is really small too. We love the windmill on top of the hill. And I love all little shops around.

If you start missing more lively environment you can head to Brighton. By car, it is just 15 minutes away. In Brighton places to see with kids are the pier, Sealife, seafront's dessert places and of course British Airways i360. It is a 162 m observation tower on the seafront of Brighton, and from the top, you can enjoy a spectacular views. For more extra fun you can go from Saltdean to Brighton marina, and from there hop on to the little electric train which will take you straight to Brighton Pier. I assure you that kids will love it.

If you would prefer to stay just in Saltdean, as maybe you have no car or time to travel around, you can always head to the beach. The beach is a stone beach, so you will not find sand there. However, during the low sea tide, you can grab a fishing net with kids and go in search of the little clams and sometimes fishes ;) I highly recommend to go with kids to the surrounding towns of Brighton. There is so much to discover! And I am sure, the hotels are cheaper too which is a bonus when you are travelling with a big family :)
